Perfect for breakfast or as a refreshing drink throughout the day, this summer fruits smoothie is ready in less than five minutes (and uses just a handful of ingredients!)
Using frozen summer fruits makes this a pre-chilled smoothie – so you can enjoy it straight away! It’s also so handy. You can keep a pack of summer fruits in the freezer and make this any time of the year without having to have fresh fruit in the house.
You’ll need a blender or smoothie maker to make this recipe. If you don’t have one, I would recommend getting one (you can pick them up quite cheaply these days) – we get a lot of use out of ours.
Ingredients, Substitutions and Variations
- Frozen summer fruits – mine was a selection of red currants, black currants, raspberries and strawberries. Any combination will work – whatever your local store sells.
- Porridge oats – the cheaper, the better. You want oats that are quite small and thin.
- Honey – optional, for a bit of extra sweetness.
- Water – you could use milk for a richer smoothie, but it’s not necessary.
Summer Fruits Smoothie Top Tips
- Get ahead
You can make this the night before you want to drink it. Store it in the fridge. Give it a shake before you drink it.
- Additions
You could add a banana for a more filling smoothie.
- Consistency
Blend for a little longer or a little shorter to get a consistency that you like.
