Summer Fruits Smoothie

Perfect for breakfast or as a refreshing drink throughout the day, this summer fruits smoothie is ready in less than five minutes (and uses just a handful of ingredients!)

Using frozen summer fruits makes this a pre-chilled smoothie – so you can enjoy it straight away! It’s also so handy. You can keep a pack of summer fruits in the freezer and make this any time of the year without having to have fresh fruit in the house.

You’ll need a blender or smoothie maker to make this recipe. If you don’t have one, I would recommend getting one (you can pick them up quite cheaply these days) – we get a lot of use out of ours.

Ingredients, Substitutions and Variations

  • Frozen summer fruits – mine was a selection of red currants, black currants, raspberries and strawberries. Any combination will work – whatever your local store sells.
  • Porridge oats – the cheaper, the better. You want oats that are quite small and thin.
  • Honey – optional, for a bit of extra sweetness.
  • Water – you could use milk for a richer smoothie, but it’s not necessary.

Summer Fruits Smoothie Top Tips

  1. Get ahead

You can make this the night before you want to drink it. Store it in the fridge. Give it a shake before you drink it.

  2. Additions

You could add a banana for a more filling smoothie.

  3. Consistency

Blend for a little longer or a little shorter to get a consistency that you like.
