Back to school, back to work, September is a month for new starts. If you’re wondering what to eat in September, you’re in the right place.
September is a month of contrasts – here in the U.K., we may still have bright, warm days. But the evenings will draw in and as it gets dark, that autumnal chill will start to fill the air.
September is a wonderful cooking month, with all sorts of wonderful foods to forage (blackberries!) and pick up from your local farm shop.
What to Eat in September – In Season
September is a fantastic month for in season food in the U.K. Summer produce – like salads, berries and tomatoes – is still going strong, but autumn foods, like leeks, apples and pears, are ready too.
These are some of the other ingredients that are in season inSeptember:
Apples
Beetroot
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Leeks
Celery
Pears
Potatoes
Fennel
Thyme
Haddock
Pheasant
Wild duck
