Black Forest Fruits and Beetroot Smoothie

Bright red Black Forest fruits and beetroot smoothie in a glass

This Black Forest fruits and beetroot smoothie is quick and easy to make, and full of good things!

Mornings can be rushed. Particularly weekday mornings. And when you’re trying to eat more healthily, it’s hard to avoid falling into the trap of grabbing something quick and instantly gratifying for breakfast (like a cereal bar).

If you’ve got two minutes and a smoothie maker though, you have a nutritious breakfast at your fingertips.

When I first got my smoothie maker, I was a bit put off by the fruit and veg prep – if I’ve got to peel, slice, and de stone then it’s not exactly quick and easy. For this recipe, though, the extent of the prep is pouring – so easy and so delicious!

Beetroot Smoothie – The Ingredients

  • Frozen Black Forest fruits – frozen fruit makes this smoothie easy to make all year around. Most supermarkets now sell bags of frozen fruit – really handy to have in your freezer drawer. There’s no need to defrost the fruit for this recipe. The frozen fruit blends well and chills the smoothie too!
  • Oats – standard porridge oats are best. You don’t need any special ones.
  • Beetroot juice – I like to keep a carton of beetroot juice in my fridge for this smoothie. The natural sweetness of the beetroot means that you don’t need to add any other sweeteners to this smoothie.

  1. Great recipe – do you soak the oats first or add them dry?

    1. Hi Laura,
I just throw them in dry! You would get a slightly smoother texture if you soaked them first, but there’s no need to if you’re in a hurry.
