Eating out with children can be tricky. Finding the right kind of place with the right kind of atmosphere can be tricky. But it shouldn’t be, not really.
Sergio’s gets it absolutely right.
Sergio’s is always, without fail, busy. The atmosphere is happy, upbeat and all you can hear are joyful chatting people. We visited without a booking on a Saturday afternoon in January at 3.30pm and were lucky to get a table.
Our daughter is one and can be difficult to keep entertained when out for meals, but she loved it at Sergio’s. The waiting on staff were incredible with her (one even drew her a little picture!) and the other guests were so friendly too. It’s one of those places where everyone is just smiling.
To the food – oh wow. We are lucky in Chester to have several fantastic Italian restaurants, and Sergio’s is up there with the best. I had Tagliolini Montagnola (a pasta dish with pesto, dolcelatte cheese, mushrooms and cream) and it was divine. Their pesto was perfectly balanced and there was none of that greasiness that you can get from pesto dishes. Yum. Michael had Pizza Lucia which was topped with egg, Italian sausage and asparagus. I didn’t try it but Michael wolfed it down and sang its praises!
We didn’t order a meal for our daughter (she’s at that picky stage where she would never eat a whole one) but she had plenty of both of our meals, and she kept shouting ‘more, more, more!’
I had a glass of the house white – highly recommended and very quaffable – and Michael had a cappuccino which, as well as being a fab coffee, was an absolute bargain.
Definitely visit Sergio’s next time you are in Chester, but do book in advance to guarantee a table. You can book online through their website here.
