This is one of those recipes that is so simple it doesn’t really need a recipe – but it’s definitely worth writing out for the inspiration. These cherry waffles were an absolute winner for us.
Finding quick, delicious and different breakfast recipes can be really tricky. Fortunately, this one fits into all of those categories.
The waffle topping is satisfying, not too sweet and the perfect texture for the crisp waffles. Give it a go!
If you want more simple breakfast ideas, I’ve compiled a list of them here.
The Waffles
This is a recipe for the topping, not the waffles. I didn’t make my own waffles, because I don’t have a waffle maker, so I bought some like this. They were really tasty when they’d been popped in the toaster for two minutes.
If you want to make your own, do! I’d recommend this recipe if you do.
The Cherries
I used some dark sweet cherries for these cherry waffles that I had in the freezer (I’d used them to make baked oats recently). You could really replace with any other frozen fruit – strawberries, blueberries, summer fruits would all work well. Just make sure that they are fully warmed through after microwaving, because they could take longer if larger.
The Yoghurt
I recommend using Greek yoghurt for this recipe. It’s a perfect consistency for the waffles and doesn’t bring any additional sweetness, which works brilliantly with the fruit.
This recipe serves one, and takes 5 minutes.
